Giftware Retail Assistant

Haddenham Garden Centre is an independent family owned business which has been established for over 40 years.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a part time Giftware Retail Assistant to join our team on a permanent basis. Our Home & Gift Department includes a large number of categories including home fragrance, toiletries, candles, toys, books, greetings cards, and kitchenware. We have a range of top named suppliers including - Stoneglow Candles, Jellycat, Gisela Graham, St Eval, Denby and LSA.

We create inspirational displays to give customers ideas for their own home. Therefore, someone with a creative eye is a must.

The role is part time (24 hours per week) and the days of work will be a Monday, Tuesday and Thursday 9am to 5.30pm.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver exceptional customer service to our customers, demonstrating thorough knowledge of our brands, their heritage and values.
• Unpack deliveries and price for sale.
• Merchandise stock, ensuring displays are inspirational, commercially balanced and that they are kept to the highest standard and refreshed on a regular basis.
• General housekeeping to ensure high standards of presentation are maintained.
• Carrying out everyday duties such as stock replenishment, facing up and stock taking.
• Use our EPOS system to maintain and update our stock inventory as required.
• Providing general support on the shop floor which will include operating the till and serving customers, stock replenishment, lifting and moving stock and carry to car.
• Providing support to other areas of the business as requested

Skills/Experience required for the role:

• Previous experience in retail and product merchandising
• Able to demonstrate creativity and artistic flair
• Excellent communication and customer service skills with the ability to quickly build a good rapport with customers, colleagues and suppliers
• Highly organised with high attention to detail and accuracy
• Able to work on own initiative and manage own time effectively
• Comfortable using a stock control system
